Local Councils
A listing of the local councils, officers and e-mail addresses in California.

International Reading Association, the parent organization for the California Reading Association, contains information about IRA membership, conferences and conventions, councils and affiliates, publications, projects, advocacy, and research.

The California Department of Education site contains information regarding educational resources, state programs, assessment, technology, the State Board of Education, legal and legislative information, special programs, and standards-based accountability.

The California Young Reader Medal program gives young readers in our state the opportunity to honor their favorite books and authors, recommend them to others, and enjoy recreational reading.

The California School Library Association assists school libraries throughout California to insure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information in all print and non print formats by providing access to information in many formats and instruction to create competence in reading, writing, viewing, evaluating, choosing, and using information.

The California Technology Assistance Project is a statewide educational technology leadership initiative, providing assistance to schools and districts in integrating technology into teaching and learning.

Schools of California Online Resources for Education The Schools of California Online Resources for Education language arts site provides excellent projects and resources aligned with the California Content Standards.

Center for the Improvement of Early Reading Achievement's mission is to improve the reading achievement of America's children by generating and disseminating theoretical, empirical and practical solutions to problems in the learning and teaching of beginning reading.

Novelguide is the premier free source for literary analysis on the web. They provide an educational supplement for better understanding of classic and contemporary Literature Profiles, Metaphor Analysis, Theme Analyses, and Author Biographies.

The wbsite for Kidland Central, a place where different teams of children from all over the world create monthly websites and publish their work. Their goal is to encourage creative expression and cross-cultural understanding among the world's children. Any group of children can form a team. The target age is 11 - 14.
