CRA is deeply saddened by the current crisis that directly affects our diverse population of students and teachers in California and across the country.

We advocate for classroom and school environments that are diverse, inclusive, affirming and culturally sensitive.  As educators, our tools have always been books and literature.  We are leaders in using the power of literacy by:

• Using books from various cultures, languages, races, and perspectives to expand students’ and teachers’ perspectives of the world and reflect the lives of students.
• Sharing and discussing diverse books builds empathy and allows students to see themselves and gives them a window into different worlds.
